Pearls of Wisdom

If it weren’t for the grain of sand that constantly irritated the oyster, it would have never produced a pearl. That irritating, tiny grain of sand cultivates layers of luminous, miraculous, one-of-a-kind beauty just as life’s challenges cultivate and evolve each of our souls.

PEARLS OF WISDOM is a description of wise advice, concise pieces of sagacity that are metaphorically as precious as pearls. Originally, ‘pearls of wisdom’ referred to bits of information or advice that the receiver truly found precious. The term dates back at least to the early 1800s. Today, referring to information or advice one receives as ‘pearls of wisdom’ is often, but not always, sarcastic, as the phrase is now considered a terrible cliché. Be that as it may, I would like to take the phrase back to its pure and positive origin because much like wisdom, pearls are timeless.
